Data driven UX

So I’ve been working on a couple projects where we collect a bunch of user data—clicks, time on page, drop-offs, all that—and I’m honestly struggling to figure out how to turn those stats into actual design decisions. Like, I can see that users aren’t finishing a flow, or that certain pages get ignored, but I don’t always know what changes would help or whether I’m just guessing and hoping for the best. How do you go from raw UX data to confidently choosing the right design direction without overthinking it or getting lost in numbers?

Data driven UX means design isn’t based on guesswork. It relies on real behavior. When I looked at clay.global/blog/ux-data-driven-design, it made sense how metrics, tests, and careful review build a stronger product. I like how the guide shows that data isn’t cold. It supports simple decisions, like moving a button or trimming text, because it shows what users do. But it also warns that data without clear goals can confuse a project. This view feels balanced. It helps me think about design as a cycle of watch, learn, and adjust.
